The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged to foster unity among political leaders in the state, warning against what he described as do or politics.

Yusuf made the remarks during the second special prayer session and Qur’anic recitation held at the Government House in Kano, where 4,444 reciters gathered on Saturday. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Tofa, the governor said the collective devotion for unity, peace and prosperity was already producing positive results.

He cited the attendance of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, at state functions as evidence of growing harmony among political actors in Kano. According to Yusuf, such gestures signal a new phase of cooperation and reconciliation in the state’s political landscape.

The governor also expressed optimism that the lingering Kano Emirate tussle would be resolved amicably. He noted that the fervent prayers offered by the reciters would pave the way for a peaceful outcome acceptable to all parties involved.

Reaffirming his commitment to reconciliation, Yusuf vowed to unite politicians across party lines and urged them to embrace mutual respect and understanding. He stressed that political differences should not undermine the peace and development of the state.

Yusuf further reiterated his administration’s resolve to eradicate thuggery, describing youths involved in such acts as sons of the soil who should channel their energy into meaningful contributions to development.

In his remarks, Barau Jibrin commended the governor’s unity initiative and encouraged other states to adopt similar prayer programmes to promote national cohesion. The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, also urged residents to remain steadfast in prayers for sustained peace and progress.
