The Nigeria national football team secured a 2:1 victory over the Iran national football team in an international friendly played at the Mardan Sports Complex on Friday.

Nigeria made a bright start, taking the lead just six minutes into the match. Moses Simon calmly finished from close range after a well delivered pass from Samuel Chukwueze, giving the Super Eagles an early advantage.

The team extended their lead shortly after the restart in the 51st minute when Akor Adams found the back of the net from close range, following an assist from Ademola Lookman.

Iran responded in the 67th minute through Mehdi Taremi, who scored to reduce the deficit and spark hopes of a comeback. Despite late pressure, Nigeria held on to secure the win.

Both teams made several substitutions as the match progressed. Nigeria introduced players including Paul Onuachu, Fisayo Dele Bashiru, Chidera Ejuke, and Frank Onyeka in a bid to maintain control, while Iran also reshuffled their squad in search of an equaliser.

The Super Eagles will now turn their attention to their next friendly against the Jordan national football team scheduled for Tuesday, March 31.
