This crucial goal confirmed Senegal’s place in the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of the Mali-Tunisia match.
Sadio Mané’s remarkable performance included two assists, bringing his total to nine assists in the Africa Cup of Nations, a new record surpassing Ivory Coast’s Yaya Touré, who held the previous record of seven. This victory emphasizes Senegal’s resilience and depth, showcasing a mix of experienced players and promising youngsters like Mbaye.
