Manchester City claimed their eighth FA Cup title after a brilliant second half goal from Antoine Semenyo secured a hard fought 1 0 victory over Chelsea F.C. at Wembley on Saturday.

The Ghana winger delivered the defining moment of the final in the 72nd minute with an audacious back flick finish from close range after a precise cross from Erling Haaland. The stunning strike lit up an otherwise tense and scrappy encounter and instantly earned a place among the greatest FA Cup final goals in history.

Semenyo’s goal sealed Manchester City’s second trophy of the season following their League Cup triumph earlier in the campaign. The 26 year old has quickly become a fan favourite since arriving from Bournemouth during the January transfer window and his Wembley heroics further justified the move.

Under Pep Guardiola, City ended a disappointing run of back to back FA Cup final defeats and lifted the famous trophy for the third time during Guardiola’s reign. The victory also marked Guardiola’s 20th trophy as City manager during his remarkable spell at the club.

Chelsea battled hard under interim boss Calum McFarlane but lacked creativity in despite a disciplined defensive display. The defeat added to an already frustrating season for the London side, who remain outside the Premier League top four race.

City dominated possession for long periods while Chelsea relied on counter s and defensive resilience. Haaland and Semenyo both threatened before the breakthrough finally arrived late in the second half.

The win keeps alive City’s hopes of ending the season with another Premier League title as Guardiola’s side continue their unbeaten domestic run.
