Paris Saint Germain have received a major injury boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League final showdown with Arsenal later this month.
The French Ligue 1 champions secured their place in the Champions League final after defeating Bayern Munich in the semi final and are now preparing for the highly anticipated clash scheduled for May 30 in Budapest.
In an official update released by PSG on Tuesday, the club confirmed that Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi has returned to training after recovering from a thigh injury.
Hakimi had been sidelined since suffering the injury during the first leg of the semi final against Bayern Munich a few weeks ago. His return is considered a significant boost for manager Luis Enrique as PSG aim to secure their first UEFA Champions League title.
The club also confirmed that goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier and youngster Quentin Ndjantou have resumed individual outdoor training sessions as they continue their recovery programs.
According to the club statement, the trio participated in separate fitness and rehabilitation exercises outdoors as part of their gradual return to full team activities.
PSG supporters will be encouraged by Hakimi’s progress given his importance to the team’s defensive structure and ing play throughout the season. The Moroccan international has been one of the club’s standout performers in both domestic and European competitions.
The upcoming final against Arsenal is expected to attract global attention as both clubs seek European glory after impressive campaigns this season. Arsenal are aiming to win another Champions League title, while PSG continue their pursuit of their first ever crown in the competition.
