The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has announced the appointment of Deolu Ijose as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer following a reconstitution of its Board of Directors.

Ijose takes over from Francis Agoha, bringing with him extensive experience in Nigeria’s electricity sector. He previously served as Managing Director of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company and also held the position of Chief Commercial Officer at IBEDC, giving him deep insight into the company’s operations.

The board expressed strong confidence in Ijose’s leadership, noting that his experience within the industry and prior role at IBEDC position him well to sustain ongoing reforms while improving efficiency and service delivery.

In his reaction, Ijose described his appointment as an honour and pledged to build on the existing foundation of the company. He emphasized the need to prioritise operational efficiency, strengthen commercial discipline, and improve customer service across IBEDC’s network.

He also highlighted teamwork, accountability, and excellence as key drivers that will shape the company’s future direction. According to him, these principles will guide efforts to enhance performance and deliver value to customers.

The appointment signals IBEDC’s renewed commitment to improving electricity supply, deepening stakeholder engagement, and investing in infrastructure. It also reflects a focus on leveraging technology to address challenges in the power sector and ensure more reliable service delivery.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with power supply issues, Ijose’s leadership is expected to play a crucial role in driving innovation and strengthening the company’s contribution to the national economy.
