Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted concerns over player fatigue ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea as both clubs prepare for a crucial clash at Wembley Stadium.

City are currently battling Arsenal in the Premier League title race while also chasing FA Cup glory. Guardiola’s side defeated Crystal Palace 3 0 on Wednesday to remain two points behind league leaders Arsenal with only two matches left in the season.

However the City manager believes his team’s demanding schedule could give Chelsea an important advantage in the final. Manchester City will return to Premier League action against Bournemouth just three days after the FA Cup final while Chelsea have enjoyed a full week to prepare.

Guardiola pointed out that Chelsea players have had more time to rest and train while City continue to travel and play every few days. He described the situation as mentally and physically exhausting for his squad.

To manage fitness levels Guardiola rested key players including Erling Haaland Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku during the victory over Crystal Palace. He praised the performances of Savinho Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush who stepped up during the match.

Manchester City are appearing in the FA Cup final for a record fourth consecutive season but have lost their last two appearances including defeats against Crystal Palace and Manchester United. Guardiola has already won the competition twice and another victory would mark his 20th trophy since joining City.

Meanwhile Chelsea enter the final hoping to rescue a disappointing season by ending their domestic trophy drought. The Blues have struggled with inconsistency and managerial inility throughout the campaign following several ces under the BlueCo ownership.

Interim manager Calum McFarlane faces the difficult task of leading Chelsea to victory despite uncertainty surrounding his future at the club. Chelsea have failed to win any of their last seven league matches leaving their Champions League hopes ing by a thread.

Winning the FA Cup would provide some relief for Chelsea supporters after a difficult season and would mark the club’s first domestic trophy since 2018.
