In early 2026, the global billionaire population reached a record high, driven by the boom in artificial intelligence, rising stock markets, and expanding technology and finance sectors. While exact rankings differ slightly between major reports like Forbes and Hurun, the top ten countries remain consistent.

Leading the list is China, which has reclaimed the top spot with over 1,100 billionaires, mostly from the AI industry, electric vehicles, and semiconductors. Close behind is the United States, home to roughly 1,000 billionaires including globally known figures like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Although second in count, the U.S. holds the most overall wealth.

India ranks third with approximately 229 to 308 billionaires, growing rapidly thanks to major industrialists such as Mukesh Ambani. Germany remains Europe’s wealth leader with around 171 to 212 billionaires, mostly from family businesses in automotive, retail, and engineering sectors.

Russia has about 147 billionaires, largely tied to natural resources such as oil, gas, and metals, despite international sanctions. The United Kingdom follows with roughly 150 billionaires concentrated in London, primarily from finance and real estate. Switzerland, known for banking and healthcare, hosts around 114 billionaires.

Italy has about 89 billionaires, with wealth concentrated in luxury fashion, food, and manufacturing industries. Canada is home to 82 billionaires often involved in technology, finance, and natural resources. Brazil rounds out the top ten with 70 to 77 billionaires, deriving wealth from banking, agriculture, and mining.

This global billionaire surge highlights how emerging technologies and traditional industries continue to reshape wealth distribution worldwide.
