Galatasaray’s Ümit Karan Critiques Victor Osimhen’s Finishing

Galatasaray forward Ümit Karan has openly criticized Victor Osimhen’s finishing abilities, stating that the Nigerian striker lags behind Mauro Icardi in this aspect. Karan’s comments came after Osimhen’s performance in a surprising 1-1 draw against Hatayspor on Friday night, which was broadcasted on the SkySpor YouTube channel and reported by habersarikirmizi.

Despite scoring his 14th goal of the season across all competitions, Osimhen’s performance at the Mersin Stadium was below his usual standards. He missed several scoring opportunities and struggled with the offside trap, which Karan highlighted as a significant area of concern. Osimhen took a game-high six shots, but only managed to place two on target.

Karan, acknowledging Osimhen’s athleticism and technical ss, was critical of his finishing. He stated, “Victor Osimhen is an athletic and technical footballer, but he showed that he is behind Icardi in terms of finishing, he missed many clear goals. He could not get out of the offside trap.”

In the league standings, Osimhen, with eleven goals, trails behind Krzysztof Piątek, who has scored thirteen, and Simon Banza with twelve goals. This criticism comes at a time when Osimhen has been one of the standout performers for Galatasaray since his loan move from Napoli.

The feedback from Karan could serve as a learning opportunity for Osimhen to refine his finishing and tactical awareness as he continues his stint in Turkey’s Super Lig.
