Finance Minister Wale Edun Meets IMF Africa Executive to Strengthen ECOWAS Economic Coordination

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, received Dr. Quattara Wautabouna, Executive Director for the IMF Africa Group III ECOWAS Constituency, during a courtesy visit in Abuja. The meeting focused on enhancing regional economic cooperation and collaboration within the ECOWAS constituency.

According to a post on the Ministry of Finance’s X (Twitter) handle, discussions centered on strategies to support economic ility and shared growth objectives across the West African region. Minister Edun emphasized the importance of continued engagement between Nigeria and the IMF to foster coordinated economic policies, improve financial oversight, and strengthen regional development initiatives.

Dr. Wautabouna highlighted the IMF’s commitment to working with member countries in the ECOWAS bloc to promote macroeconomic ility, sustainable growth, and fiscal resilience.
