Fench Court Orders PSG to Pay Kylian Mbappé €60 Million in Unpaid Salaries and Bonuses

A French court has ruled that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) must pay Kylian Mbappé, their former star winger, 60 million euros in unpaid salaries and bonuses following his departure last summer.

Since Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, a lengthy legal battle between the player and PSG has been ongoing. The unpaid wages relate to the spring of 2024, during the first season under coach Luis Enrique.

This ruling ends a bitter dispute between the club and one of its greatest ever players, highlighting the tense relationship between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Mbappé.

Mbappé’s legal team expressed satisfaction with the decision, stating, “We are satisfied with this ruling. This is what you could expect when salaries went unpaid.” PSG issued a statement accepting the ruling and expressing a wish to move forward “towards the future.”

For now, a surprise return of Mbappé to PSG seems unlikely. The French forward has adapted well to life at Real Madrid, scoring 48 La Liga goals in just 51 games. Meanwhile, PSG’s squad has found a new balance since his departure, with a hardworking and fluid front three contributing to their historic European success last season.

Mbappé left PSG on a free transfer after his two-year contract extension expired, a move that some Parisian fans viewed as a betrayal. The prolonged legal battle has likely deepened that sentiment.

Looking ahead, PSG will face Flamengo in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final tomorrow and hope that the court ruling does not overshadow what has been a historic year for the club.
