Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has expressed his commitment to providing Kelechi Iheanacho with more opportunities in upcoming matches. Since joining the former UEFA Europa League champions on a free transfer during the summer, Iheanacho has only made five league appearances and was an unused substitute in Sevilla’s last two games against Real Betis and Barcelona.
Pimienta acknowledged Iheanacho’s hard work in training and emphasized that he deserves more playing time. “I’m happy with Kelechi. The other day, he was about to come on the pitch, but Suso’s injury had a significant impact on us,” Pimienta stated. He added that the decision to keep Iheanacho on the bench was not a reflection of his performance but rather the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the team.
“He’s training well, and I believe he deserves to play more minutes. Even though the result wasn’t good in the last match, I was planning to put him in,” the manager noted.
As Sevilla prepares for their away match against Espanyol in La Liga on Friday, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if Iheanacho gets the chance to showcase his skills on the pitch. With Pimienta’s assurances, there is optimism that the Nigerian forward will become a more integral part of the team in the coming weeks.
