Governor Umar A. Namadi of Jigawa State has approved the immediate suspension of Auwalu Dalladi Sankara, the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Special Duties and member of the State Executive Council, pending an investigation into allegations raised by the Kano State Hisbah.
This decision was communicated through a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim. He emphasized that the suspension is in response to the recent claims, requiring a comprehensive examination to maintain transparency and uphold the integrity of the state administration.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) highlighted Governor Umar A. Namadi’s commitment to accountability and adherence to ethical standards in governance. He added that the suspension is a precautionary step to allow a fair investigation to take place.
“We take all allegations seriously and are dedicated to upholding the trust of Jigawa citizens in the government,” Malam Bala Ibrahim said.
On Friday, the Kano Hisbah Board confirmed the arrest and detention of Auwalu Dalladi Sankara, stating that he would be charged in court on Monday. According to Hisbah Director General, Abba Sufi, the commissioner was found with Tasleem Baba Nabegu, a married woman with two children, in an uncompleted building owned by him.
Sufi disclosed that the Hisbah had been tracking Sankara based on reports received against him. The arrest followed a complaint by the woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama, who accused the commissioner of engaging in an affair with his wife. Bulama had filed the complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board.
The Hisbah Director General further alleged that Sankara had been operating illicit drug centers disguised as hotels, where activities related to drug addiction and prostitution took place.
