Arsenal Set for Defensive Boost as Three Key Players Near Return Ahead of Sunderland Clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has delivered encouraging news on the injury front, confirming that Ben White will be available for Saturday night’s Premier League encounter with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. The England defender sparked concerns after appearing uncomfortable during the closing stages of Wednesday’s 1-0 Champions League victory over Napoli, where he was substituted for midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

White’s availability is crucial. The right-back missed the end of last season with a knee ligament problem that kept him out of World Cup contention, making his quick recovery from this latest knock a significant relief for the Gunners.

Could Arsenal’s defensive options soon look even stronger? Arteta hinted at potential returns for both Jurrien Timber and Cristhian Mosquera against Sunderland. Timber, the Dutch defender, has been largely absent since suffering a groin injury during March’s win over Everton. He managed just one appearance since then, coming off the bench in May’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain before a summer setback derailed his recovery.

The 25-year-old has recently resumed team training and travelled with the squad to Naples, though he wasn’t involved in the match. His return, alongside Mosquera’s possible comeback, would significantly strengthen Arsenal’s defensive ranks as they continue their title defence with a perfect start to the season.
