Trump Hands $45,000 Cash Gift to Aide Natalie Harp as White House Releases Financial Disclosures

President Donald Trump distributed sizeable cash gifts to White House aide Natalie Harp and several other staff members, according to financial disclosures released by the administration. Harp received $45,000 in cash. A White House official, speaking anonymously without authorization, defended the payments as “entirely permissible under relevant legal and ethical standards.”

The revelations come at a turbulent time for the administration. The Justice Department has escalated its yearlong investigation with fresh subpoenas demanding testimony before a Florida grand jury. What’s the probe targeting? Officials are examining alleged intelligence community conspiracies against Trump, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Meanwhile, public confidence in government has eroded sharply. A recent poll shows Americans now express little or no trust in federal information about elections, foreign affairs, or environmental matters. That represents a marked shift from just a few years ago.

Separately, oil markets responded to U.S.-Iran tensions with Brent crude surging 2.8% to $100.70 per barrel. Gasoline prices jumped seven cents overnight to $4.22 per gallon, more than a dollar higher than this point last year. Energy analysts warn the conflict could further strain global oil supplies and intensify inflationary pressures already squeezing American households.
