NDC Dismisses Reports of Missing Governorship Candidates Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has pushed back against circulating reports suggesting the party lacks governorship candidates in 12 states ahead of the 2027 general elections. National Publicity Secretary Osa Director called the claims false and malicious in a statement released Saturday.

What’s behind the sudden accusations? Director described the reports as “deliberate propaganda” designed to undermine the party’s growing influence across Nigeria. He insisted the NDC has nominated candidates in all 28 states where gubernatorial contests will take place.

The party official didn’t hold back. Describing the allegations as “a lie from the pit of hell,” Director accused unnamed actors of attempting to mislead the Nigerian public about the party’s preparedness. He stressed that the NDC maintains structures and supporters in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, rejecting any suggestion it’s merely a regional outfit.

Director used the opportunity to call for better media verification practices, urging journalists and content creators to scrutinize sources before publication. The party positioned itself as a departure from what it termed “recycled failures,” promising Nigerians a focus on security, employment, and accountability when voters head to the polls in 2027.
