US lobbying firm deletes Trump appointment post after alleged Nigerian government pressure

A United States political lobbying firm has claimed it removed a social media post about its leader’s alleged appointment by President Donald Trump after the White House said Nigeria’s government repeatedly complained. Von Batten-Montague-York made the disclosure on its verified X handle Saturday, explaining the deletion of its earlier announcement regarding Dr Karl Von Batten.

According to the firm, Von Batten apologised to the White House for what they described as an inconvenience caused by numerous phone calls from Nigerian officials. The lobbying organisation went further, alleging that President Bola Tinubu and his associates were uncomfortable with its work concerning allegations about the president’s past in the United States.

Why would an entire government mobilise over a single social media post?

The firm specifically accused Tinubu’s spokespersons and Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo of ing the organisation. They claimed the president fears their work related to alleged FBI investigations into drug smuggling activities from Nigeria to America during the 1980s and 1990s. Von Batten-Montague-York even predicted Vice President Kashim Shettima would be the next high-ranking official to respond.

The allegations remain unverified, and neither the presidency nor the Aviation Minister has issued an official response to the latest claims. The drama continues to unfold on social media platforms.
