Defence Minister Christopher Musa has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of promoting division, suggesting Nigeria’s trajectory would’ve been worse had he remained in government. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme Thursday, Musa warned that politicians exploiting differences among Nigerians have no place in the country’s future. “If probably El-Rufai had been around, a lot of things would have gone different because he loves that divide and rule,” the minister said.
It’s a blunt assessment. Musa praised President Bola Tinubu by contrast, describing him as passionate about Nigeria’s development and progress. According to the minister, his discussions with Tinubu reveal a leader genuinely committed to moving the country forward. “Maybe in the past, this is a new Nigeria. We’re trying to move forward,” Musa added.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s investment landscape is heating up. Daba Finance and Coronation announced a distribution arrangement on September 2 in Lagos and Miami, giving eligible international investors digital access to Nigerian capital market products. The partnership covers market intelligence, investor education and digital access through the Daba platform, while Coronation provides regulated services within Nigeria.
Why the timing? Nigerian equities remain among Africa’s strongest performers in 2026. The NGX All-Share Index ended August at 244,199.39 points, up about 57% for the year. The country also prepares to rejoin FTSE Russell’s Frontier Market index universe later this month, potentially drawing even more global attention.
