Nigerian comedian Aderombi Adedayo Martins, better known as DeeOne, has launched a scathing on Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu over the handling of controversial activist VeryDarkMan. The influencer made the allegations in a heated Instagram video posted Tuesday, questioning why VeryDarkMan hasn’t been arrested despite reportedly refusing police invitations.
DeeOne didn’t mince words. He compared VeryDarkMan’s treatment to recent cases involving Big Brother Naija star Tacha and businessman Blord, both of whom faced arrest after missing police summons. The comedian argued that all citizens should face equal treatment under the law, regardless of their social media influence or connections.
What makes this situation particularly controversial? VeryDarkMan himself publicly announced he wouldn’t honour the police invitation, which came after he made serious allegations against Assistant Inspector-General Jimoh Moshood. Yet unlike Tacha and Blord, no arrest has followed.
In his video, DeeOne accused Disu of becoming a “useless IGP” and claimed information suggests the police chief is blocking VeryDarkMan’s arrest despite approval from higher authorities. He warned the IGP that his tenure won’t last forever and threatened to expose alleged shortcomings in his work.
The confrontation highlights growing tensions around perceived selective law enforcement in Nigeria’s social media space, where influential personalities sometimes appear to operate under different rules than ordinary citizens.
