Ooni of Ife Endorses Tinubu’s Economic Policies, Cites Market Growth

Nigeria’s revered traditional ruler, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda, describing the administration’s policies as transformative steps toward ending poverty. Speaking at his palace during the unveiling of the National Mobility Programme by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, the monarch pointed to measurable economic gains as evidence of progress.

The numbers tell a story. According to Oba Ogunwusi, Nigeria’s capital market has surged past N150 trillion, while foreign reserves now stand above $53 billion. He described the nation as having “the most capitalised market in the world,” achievements he says were previously unrecorded in the country’s history.

But can policy reforms alone eradicate entrenched poverty? The monarch believes the answer lies in consumer credit initiatives and market ility. He credited Tinubu’s administration with ilising the foreign exce market, which he said allows businesses and individuals to plan more effectively.

“The intention of President Tinubu is to put an end to poverty among Nigerians,” the Ooni declared. His remarks reflect growing optimism within certain quarters about the administration’s economic direction, even as many Nigerians continue grappling with rising living costs.
