Pop star Sophia Laforteza won’t be joining her bandmates when Katseye kicks off the European and UK leg of their Wildworld Tour next week. The 23-year-old singer is prioritising her mental health and wellness, according to a statement released by the group’s management on Saturday.
Medical professionals advised her to take dedicated time for extended rest. That’s a familiar pattern for the group. Fellow member Manon Bannerman stepped back under similar circumstances in February, raising questions about the pressure facing young artists in the spotlight.
The tour begins September 1 in Dublin before heading to London, New York, and Mexico City. Laforteza will sit out all European and UK dates scheduled through September 17. Management company HxG, a partnership between K-pop giant Hybe and US label Geffen Records, stressed their commitment to providing full support and resources.
Formed in 2023 through the competition show The Debut: Dream Academy, Katseye has experienced a meteoric rise. The group earned Grammy nominations in 2026 for best new artist and best pop group performance, cementing their status as one of pop’s fastest rising acts. Their remaining five members will continue the tour as scheduled.
