Hollywood actor Tom Hardy has caught fans off guard by reviving his long-dormant rap career, releasing an explicit collaborative album with American hip-hop supergroup Czarface. The 48-year-old star performs under his musical alias, Frankie Pulitzer, on the surprise project titled ‘Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer’.
This isn’t Hardy’s first foray into music. Back in 1999, he released a mixtape called ‘Falling On Your Arse’ which resurfaced online in 2018. The actor once worked with Warren Riker and Gordon Williams, producers linked to artists like Lauryn Hill and the Fugees, though he admitted in a 2011 BBC interview that much of his recorded material never saw official release.
The new album features explicit content, including references to Hardy’s role as Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and controversial lyrics about actress Kathy Bates from the 1990 thriller ‘Misery’. Czarface, which includes Wu-Tang Clan members, has been actively promoting the release on social media.
Hardy himself has remained characteristically low-key about the project. He hasn’t mentioned it on his personal social channels, though a comment attributed to him appeared on Czarface’s Instagram thanking the group for the collaboration. The actor previously dismissed his rap ambitions in 2016, saying he’s ‘somebody’s dad now’ and it wouldn’t be cool to revisit that chapter.
