Tuscany is preparing for one of its most ambitious autumn art seasons, bringing together major European and American artists in a series of exhibitions launching between September and October. The Italian region will host shows featuring some of the most recognizable names in art history, alongside the opening of a new permanent museum.

Edward Hopper takes centre stage in Pisa. The American painter, celebrated for his scenes of urban isolation and architectural precision, will see more than 150 of his works displayed at Palazzo Blu from 14 October 2026 to 7 March 2027. His influence extends beyond painting into photography and cinema, making this exhibition particularly significant for understanding 20th century American visual culture.

Florence offers its own heavyweight attraction with an examination of Artemisia Gentileschi’s decisive years in the city. Running from 21 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 at the Museo degli Innocenti, the exhibition focuses on the period when Gentileschi became the first woman admitted to Florence’s Accademia delle Arti del Disegno. She received commissions from the Medici family and counted Galileo Galilei among her acquaintances.

The season also brings a new permanent addition to Florence’s cultural landscape. The Collezione Casamonti will open its doors at Palazzo San Giorgio on 28 September, expanding the city’s already impressive museum offerings. Palazzo Strozzi rounds out the autumn programme with Broken: The Power of the Fragment.
