An explosive allegation is shaking Nigeria’s music scene. Afrobeats artist Hotkeed has revealed he personally knows at least 50 Nigerian musicians who artificially inflate their streaming numbers through streaming farms, and he’s ready to name names if anyone crosses him.
Speaking during a recent interview with content creator Jbrandy, the singer didn’t hold back. He explained that operators of these streaming services have directly approached him, showing off their work for other artists while trying to recruit him as a client. “If any of those artists using streaming farms ever cross my lane, I would expose them,” Hotkeed warned.
But what’s really at stake here? According to Hotkeed, it’s not just about fake numbers. The practice actively pushes genuine talent into the shadows. “If 50 artists are stream farming, you have taken 50 genuine artists back,” he argued passionately.
The singer questioned why musicians rush to social media bragging about numbers they didn’t earn legitimately. He’d rather have 2,000 real streams than 2 million fraudulent ones. That’s a principle fewer artists seem willing to stand by these days, making Hotkeed’s stance both refreshing and risky in an industry increasingly driven by metrics over musicality.
