They listened. The political newcomer, tapped to complete her late brother Lindsey Graham’s Senate term, secured a 52% to 48% victory over hardline conservative Rep. Ralph Norman in Tuesday’s GOP primary runoff.
The numbers tell the story. Just days before the primary, an August 24 poll showed both candidates deadlocked at 48% each. Experts called it a toss-up. Then Trump showed up and turned doubt into certainty.
“The thing that hammered it home was his visit,” said Scott Huffmon, a political science professor at Winthrop University. Trump’s MAGA base in Horry County, where he held his rally, came out in overwhelming numbers. Graham couldn’t have asked for better timing or a more vocal supporter.
What comes next for Graham? She’ll face voters in November with a simple pitch: Trump’s agenda, no questions asked. Whether that’s enough in the deeply red state remains the ultimate test, though few are betting against her now.
