President Donald Trump will travel to Ireland next month for a two-day visit centered on the Irish Open golf tournament at his Doonbeg property, a White House official confirmed Sunday. The president is scheduled to be in the country on September 12 and 13, coinciding with the final days of one of the European tour’s premier tournaments.
The visit will combine official duties with the president’s well-known passion for golf. Trump plans to attend an event with US embassy personnel and business officials during his time in Ireland, though his schedule remains subject to additions as details are finalized. The centerpiece of the trip, however, will be his time at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg, County Clare, located along Ireland’s scenic west coast.
The five-star property spans over 400 acres along a 1.5-mile beach and was originally designed by legendary golfer Greg Norman. Trump has previously praised the venue as one of the best and most beautiful golf courses in the world. He expressed particular enthusiasm about watching Northern Irish professional Rory McIlroy, the defending Irish Open champion and back-to-back Masters winner in 2025 and 2026, who was a guest at the April state dinner for King Charles III.
The September visit will mark Trump’s latest presidential trip to the property, following previous visits including one in July 2019 during his first term and another in May 2023 as a candidate.
