Nigerian street pop musician Seyi Vibez has deleted controversial social media posts targeting celebrity chef Hilda Baci, hours after receiving a formal legal warning demanding their removal. The singer, who recently parted ways with Dapper Music record label, had dragged Baci into his ongoing dispute with the label over alleged missing catalogue funds amounting to N1 billion.
Baci issued a stern legal warning letter accusing the artist of libel and defamation after he made inflammatory claims on social media platform X. Seyi Vibez had alleged that Dapper Music owner Damilola Akinwunmi, who is Baci’s boyfriend, spent their catalogue money on her cosmetic surgery procedures. The singer also claimed that her food nearly ed him, dragging the chef’s professional reputation into the financial dispute.
The legal notice demanded immediate removal of all offending publications, including statements, posts, comments, images, videos and reposts across all social media platforms. Baci’s legal team further requested a clear and unequivocal public apology to be published prominently across all the singer’s social media accounts within three days. The letter also demanded a written undertaking confirming he would cease publishing any defamatory content concerning the chef.
While Seyi Vibez has complied with the deletion demand, he has not yet issued the requested public apology. The singer was signed to Dapper Music in 2022 but parted ways with the label in September 2024, updating his bio to reflect his status as an independent artist. Other former Dapper Music signees, including Shallipopi and T.I Blaze, have also called out the label owner over royalties issues, suggesting broader tensions within the organization.
