Bandabets Expands African Presence as Zambia Election Sparks UN Concern and Michigan Police Probe Human Skull Mystery

Major developments across Africa and the United States this week span business expansion, political controversy, and a criminal investigation. Bandabets has solidified its Pan-African presence by absorbing 888Bets customers in Malawi, while Zambia faces international scrutiny over post-election arrests, and Michigan authorities continue searching for answers about a human skull donated to charity.

Bandabets officially took control of Malawi’s betting landscape on August 13, 2026, migrating all 888Bets customers onto its expanding platform. Existing customers retained their account balances, betting histories, and personal information, requiring only password resets to access the new system. Eligible customers who completed the transition received an MK700 free bet, signaling the brand’s promotional strategy. The migration provides Bandabets with an immediate market foothold and elished customer base rather than launching from scratch.

Meanwhile, UN human rights chief Volker Turk expressed serious concerns about arrests following Zambia’s troubled presidential election. Eleven opposition officials were detained after law enforcement raided a property where opposition leader Brian Mundubile was present, with authorities claiming military weapons were discovered. Mundubile rejected these allegations and contested President Hakainde Hichilema’s re-election victory, capturing 38% of votes while alleging irregularities.

In Michigan, Chelsea police confirmed a skull donated to Goodwill belonged to an African American woman aged 20 to 49 at death. Despite dozens of tips, authorities have not identified the donor, described as a woman in her late 40s or early 50s with shoulder-length brown hair.
