Former Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress during the APC presidential primary exercise held across the country.
Speaking with journalists after casting his vote at his ward on Saturday, Amosun described the exercise as a strong demonstration of unity and solidarity within the ruling party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
According to the former governor, party members nationwide participated enthusiastically to show support for President Tinubu and reaffirm their commitment to the APC. He stated that the primary exercise reflected the collective decision already taken by party stakeholders regarding the future direction of the party.
“Today is very special. Today is for the President, and we all must come out to show and demonstrate that we are for the President and for APC,” Amosun said.
He explained that similar party exercises had earlier been conducted for other elective positions, including governorship contests, stressing that the presidential primary was simply a reaffirmation of decisions already agreed upon by party members.
Amosun noted that the process was taking place simultaneously in wards across Nigeria and praised APC members for their enthusiasm and peaceful participation in the exercise.
“Every ward in Nigeria is doing this, and we have to come and participate and do our bit too,” he added.
The APC chieftain also commended members for maintaining orderliness and unity throughout the voting process. According to him, there was no sign of division among party members as supporters spoke with one voice in backing President Tinubu’s continuation in office.
“You can see we are orderly, and that is what it should be. All of us are speaking with one voice. There is no dissension. Everybody agreed that we want our President to continue,” Amosun stated.
He maintained that the outcome of the exercise reflects the confidence party members have in Tinubu’s leadership and the APC’s commitment to internal unity and political ility ahead of future elections.
