The Senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial District, Samaila Dahuwa Kaila, has lost his bid to return to the Senate under the All Progressives Congress APC after suffering defeat in the party primary election held across Bauchi State.

Kaila, who was first elected into the Senate under the Peoples Democratic Party, later defected to the APC in 2025 and became a prominent political figure within the party in Bauchi State. His attempt to secure the party ticket for the 2027 general elections ended in defeat after a direct primary exercise conducted by the party.

The election results were announced by the Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Brigar General Saidu Abdulhameed, who confirmed that three aspirants participated in the contest for Bauchi North Senatorial District.

According to the results, Ibrahim Mohammed Baba emerged winner with 22,744 votes. Samaila Dahuwa Kaila polled 12,912 votes while Sirajo Ibrahim Tanko received 5,202 votes. The committee declared Ibrahim Mohammed Baba as the duly elected candidate after meeting all requirements of the party guidelines.

In Bauchi South Senatorial District, Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi secured the party ticket after polling 25,762 votes in a competitive contest involving four other aspirants. The election committee confirmed that he satisfied all constitutional requirements and was duly returned as the candidate for the district.

For the Bauchi Federal Constituency, Jibrin Abdullahi Sirajo emerged winner after scoring 13,190 votes in a five aspirant race that included Idris Isa Yuguda, son of a former Bauchi State governor. The committee announced him as the party candidate following verification of results.

The outcomes reflect ongoing political competition within the APC in Bauchi State as aspirants position themselves for the 2027 general elections across senatorial districts and federal constituencies.
