FC Barcelona are just one point away from clinching back-to-back La Liga titles as they prepare for a decisive El Clasico clash against arch rivals Real Madrid CF later on Sunday in a match already overshadowed by turmoil in the Madrid camp.

Hansi Flick’s side currently hold an 11 point lead at the top of the table, meaning a draw would be enough to secure the championship, while a victory would move them c to a historic points record and a potentially perfect home campaign.

Barcelona could still match the all time La Liga points record of 100 if they win all remaining fixtures, beginning with the clash against Real Madrid and continuing through their final league games.

If they maintain their form, the Catalan club could also become the first team in the modern 38 game La Liga era to win every home match in a single season, further cementing what has already been a dominant campaign under Hansi Flick.

In contrast, Real Madrid enter the fixture amid internal tension following reports of a training ground confrontation between midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, an incident that reportedly required medical attention for Valverde and resulted in disciplinary fines for both players.

The episode has added to what has been a frustrating season for Madrid, who are set to finish without a major trophy for the fifth time in the 21st century.

Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa has attempted to downplay the incident, confirming both players have apologised and will remain part of the squad, including Tchouaméni for the Clasico.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, however, insisted the situation at Madrid is not his concern, stressing instead the unity within his own squad and praising the consistency and shared focus at the Catalan club.

Flick stated that Barcelona’s strength lies in internal harmony, with players and staff aligned on objectives as they approach the decisive stage of the season.

The German coach also confirmed that young star Lamine Yamal will miss the match due to injury, while Real Madrid will be without Kylian Mbappe, who is still recovering from a hamstring issue.

Despite the absences, attention remains fixed on what could be a title defining encounter, with Barcelona on the verge of sealing the championship in one of football’s most historic fixtures.

A victory or even a draw would secure the La Liga crown for Barcelona, potentially making this Clasico one of the most significant in modern Spanish football history.
