Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested Emmanuel Odiniya, father of former Big Brother Naija housemate Ilebaye Odiniya, following allegations of domestic violence at their residence in Abuja.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, officers responded to a distress call from Royal Anchor Estate in Wuye, Abuja, after reports emerged of an ongoing physical assault on Ms Ilebaye Odiniya by her father.
Police operatives from Wuye Division, supported by the Department of Operations, were immediately deployed to the scene around midnight. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found the gate locked and had to force entry into the compound after several attempts.
The statement confirmed that Ilebaye was found with visible injuries and was rescued alongside her siblings before being rushed to NNPC Hospital in Abuja, where she received medical attention.
The police added that Emmanuel Odiniya, identified in reports as a public official, is currently in custody while a full investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The viral nature of the case began after a livestream on social media showed the reality TV star crying out for help, sparking widespread concern and reactions from Nigerians online.
Authorities say further details will be released as investigations progress, while assuring that due process will be followed in handling the matter.
