OPay partnered with the Central Bank of Nigeria during the Global Money Week 2026 Financial Literacy Fair and Exhibition held in Abuja to encourage financial awareness and responsible money management among students.
The event, themed “Smart Money Talks,” brought together students from several secondary schools across the Federal Capital Territory, including Doveland International School, Living Fountain International School, Government Day Secondary School Wuse and Government Science School Maitama.
Global Money Week is an international initiative focused on equipping young people with the financial knowledge and ss needed to make informed decisions in an increasingly digital economy. Organisers said the programme is aimed at preparing future generations for long term economic ility and responsible financial behaviour.
Speaking during the event, Aisha Isa Olatinwo emphasised that financial literacy is essential for national growth and economic development. She stated that understanding financial management has become increasingly important in today’s fast cing financial environment.
Also addressing participants, Nelson Amuwa explained that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to help young Nigerians gain the confidence to make sound financial decisions. He added that encouraging open discussions about money management is vital to building a secure financial future.
Representing OPay, Chukwudinma Okafor said the company’s partnership with the CBN reflects its commitment to financial literacy, consumer protection and responsible use of financial services. He noted that educating young people about safe financial practices is important for strengthening trust and advancing financial inclusion in Nigeria.
The exhibition featured interactive sessions on savings, budgeting and money management, while students also explored digital financial solutions at OPay’s exhibition booth. Organisers said the programme highlighted the growing importance of financial education in building a more financially responsible generation.
