Deadly Landslide in Indonesia Leaves Dozens Missing in West Java

A deadly landslide struck Indonesia’s West Java province, leaving several people dead and many others missing as rescue teams race against time to search for survivors. The disaster occurred after days of heavy rainfall saturated the soil, causing riverbanks to overflow and triggering massive mud and debris flows in affected communities.

Authorities said the worst damage was reported in rural areas where dozens of homes were buried under mud, rocks and uprooted trees. Emergency responders have recovered multiple bos and confirmed that numerous residents remain unaccounted for. Several families were evacuated to safer ground as officials warned of the risk of additional landslides due to unle terrain and continuing rain.

Search and rescue operations have been complicated by difficult access, damaged roads and persistent bad weather. Heavy machinery and trained rescue personnel have been deployed, while local volunteers are assisting in recovery efforts.

Officials urged residents living in landslide prone zones to remain alert and to evacuate immediately if conditions worsen. Indonesia frequently experiences landslides during the rainy season, especially in mountainous regions with dense populations and vulnerable infrastructure.
