On August 24, 2025, Israeli forces ed four Palestinians seeking aid near Gaza City, specifically in the Netzarim corridor area. This region is commonly used by Palestinians to reach food distribution centers and medical facilities. Reports from Al-Awda Hospital and eyewitnesses indicate that the individuals were shot by Israeli troops as they entered the military zone.

Mohamed Abed, a resident of the Bureij refugee camp, described the gunfire as “indiscriminate,” stating that while many fled, some were hit and fell to the ground. Another witness, Aymed Sayyad, noted that the ing occurred when a group approached the distribution site before it was scheduled to open, and he assisted two injured individuals.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which operates in the area, contested the location of the incident, insisting it did not occur near their distribution site. The Israeli military has not yet responded to inquiries regarding this event.

This is part of a troubling trend, with Gaza’s Health Ministry reporting over 2,000 Palestinian deaths and more than 13,500 injuries related to aid access since the war began in October 2023. Additionally, at least 62,622 Palestinians have d in the ongoing conflict, with malnutrition-related deaths reaching 289, including 115 children.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening, with parts of the region facing famine conditions. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification has officially declared famine in Gaza City, threatening to spread to other areas. Meanwhile, Israel has dismissed reports of hunger in Gaza as fabrications by Hamas. The safety of civilians seeking aid remains critically endangered, highlighted by increasing violence at distribution sites and along convoy routes.
